ABV is de Engelse afkorting voor ‘alcohol by volume’, oftewel ‘alcoholgehalte in volumeprocenten’. Nog makkelijker gemaakt: alcoholpercentage!
IBU staat voor International Bitterness Units.
5 – 20 = Weinig bitter
20 – 30 = Licht bitter
30 – 45 = Bitter
> 45 = Zeer bitter
EBC, of European Brewery Convention voluit is de maat voor de kleur van het bier.
6-9 Bleek / Lichtblond
9-12 Blond / Geel
12-20 Goud

30-45 Koper
45-75 Donker koper / Bruin

Mout is de basis van ieder bier. Mot is graan dat ontkiemd en daarna gedroogd is. Wij gebruiken vele verschillende soorten mout om body, kleur en smaak aan het bier te geven.Aaahhh… hop. We zijn er gek op! Hop is een bloem die hoofdzakelijk wordt gebruikt om bier bitter te maken, smaak te geven en/of stabiliteit te geven. In onze bieren voegen de meeste hoppen bloemige en fruitige smaken en aroma’s toe.

WARNING: THE TALUSMANIAN DEVIL. A strong murderous IPA with a beak of steel – a powerful, vicious evil-tempered brute of a beer fueled by citrus and floral Talus hops – explosive at all times – drinks well with anyone, especially bedeviled rabbits – has the temper of Yosemite Sam and is dumber than Elmer Fudd — will likely make you grunt, growl and rasp – handle with care – sip in peace (SIP).

Transcript of a part of the interview:
“I have taken particular interest in this beer, since it is a homage to my person, or to my devil, if we need to use such terminology haha. Ever since I was born, I have always felt like an outsider. I was always quite hyperactive and a bit of a bad tempered kid. My parents, both Australians, have done all they could, but it never was easy. However, the older I got, the more peaceful I felt. Maybe you can hear it in my voice, I hope. And that Uiltje has made a beer based on me, feels like a true recognition for my journey. So I feel really humbled, yes.”
All shenanigans aside, this viscous beer eats hops, malts, yeast and water like it is nothing. With the new and already famous Talus Hops of Yakima Chief Hops we have made a fruity Belgian IPA. Using traditional Belgian yeast and New World hops, like Talus, it truly is a mix between the Old and the New World. Expect a fruit bomb with hints of yellow fruit, flowers and citrus. With its mid range ABV of 5.4% it is perfectly enjoyable in those last summer days.
Pairing it with a dish is perfectly possible. However, do not drink the beer with something extremely spicy or greasy. Take it with a Caesar salad with some feta cheese.
